DS – Decarbonized & Sustainable Industry brings the sector together at Bilbao Exhibition Centre from 3 to 5 November. International scope, innovation, and solving real-world technical challenges are the cornerstones of this event, launched to accelerate the industry’s transition towards a more competitive, sustainable, and decarbonized model.

The inaugural edition was presented today at a press conference by Ainara Basurko, Councillor for Economic Promotion at the Provincial Council of Bizkaia; Irantzu Allende, Deputy Minister for Energy Transition at the Basque Government; Mario Goffard, Commercial and Marketing Director at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre; and Thais Basañez, Director of New Developments at the same organization.

“From an organisational perspective, all the conditions are in place to position this new event as a global summit. The Basque Country brings together industrial capabilities, energy infrastructure, assets, services, and technological know-how in energy and the environment. This makes it a uniquely suited environment for driving forward industrial decarbonization projects and clean technologies. This position is reinforced by the commitment of the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, institutions that share a strategy aimed at supporting industrial transformation, advancing towards a more sustainable production model, and strengthening the competitiveness of the business community”, said Mario Goffard.

For her part, Ainara Basurko highlighted that “industrial decarbonization requires leading companies and SMEs; technology and investment; knowledge and the market; private initiative and public leadership. DS Industry represents precisely this combination of capabilities. From the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, we want to help ensure that this first edition marks the beginning of a leading international event. An event that demonstrates that, from Bizkaia and the Basque Country, we are not only responding to the energy transition, but also aiming to lead the creation of the technologies, companies and industrial models that will make it possible.”

Irantzu Allende emphasised that “in the Basque Country, we are carrying out a dual decarbonization process, a dual commitment on both the supply and demand sides. In other words, while our industry is decarbonizing, it is also taking a leading role internationally in the development of clean technologies, which are essential to this transition. From the Basque Government, we are supporting industry throughout this process, which is why we are the perfect place to host this congress.”

The event focuses on direct access to concrete technological solutions and on dialogue geared towards practical, actionable responses for industry. Its framework is structured around three pillars: Knowledge, Innovation, and Networking.

The Knowledge section offers specialised content on decarbonizing consumption, energy efficiency, the circular economy, and cleantech through a conference dedicated to sharing insights and analysing best practices, featuring internationally renowned speakers. The programme is structured around three main thematic blocks: the Technologies Track, the Circularity in Industry Track, and the Energy-Intensive Sectors Track, which addresses the key challenges facing industries such as cement, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, ceramics, refining and steelmaking.

Meanwhile, the Innovation area brings together advanced equipment, products, and services from companies and organisations such as AFESA, BrenMiller Europe, Carlo Gavazzi, Contenor, Dominion, Globalfactor, Grupo Agaleus, Iberdrola, Larraioz, Petronor, RANK, Sener, Stratenergy (Velatia), TAMOIN, Tecnalia, Zabala Innovation, and Zabalgarbi, among others.
