On 21 November, the European Democratic Party (EDP) will hold its 21st Congress in Bilbao, Basque Country, at BEC – Bilbao Exhibition Centre. The event will open at 2 p.m. with the statutory session, reserved for delegates from across Europe, followed by the public session starting at 4 p.m. The Congress will focus on two key themes: the global struggle for democracy, starting from the youth movements driving change in countries such as Serbia, the United States, Turkey and other parts of Europe, and the influencers who motivate and inspire these movements on social media; and the need for an alliance of democracies, beginning with those in Europe, to face the growing authoritarian trends around the world. The Congress will be opened by Lehendakari Imanol Pradales and closed by the speeches of Aitor Esteban, President of the Basque National Party (EAJ/PNV), Sandro Gozi, Secretary General of the European Democratic Party, and François Bayrou, President of the EDP. The programme and list of speakers will be announced soon.
