Aspace Bizkaia is an association that helps people with cerebral palsy and their families. Cerebral palsy is a disability with a very specific nature, as it has greater support needs than other types of disability, and Aspace Bizkaia works to highlight these needs and this singularity. It currently has 13 centres and services, more than 500 members, around 500 people assisted, more than 100 volunteers and a working team of around 230 people.

ASPACE Bizkaia Batera is a meeting day for the Aspace Bizkaia family that has been held at BEC every year for the last two years. The meeting is made up of professionals, volunteers, users and their families of the entity and was created with the aim of generating a day in which the people of Aspace Bizkaia can meet and train, in addition to attending the General Assembly of Members.

Workshops chosen by the members are usually organised, and this year’s edition dealt with topics such as The challenges posed by the reform of capacity and guardianship. Future prospects for people with cerebral palsy and their families or benefits and support for people with disabilities and their families. ‘For the last two years, we have been holding this meeting at BEC because it meets all our needs in terms of accessibility, location and space, as we have a large number of wheelchair users,’ the organisation says. They add: ‘BEC has given us the facilities to be able to hold this event and thus ensure that users enjoy a space in which they can feel comfortable enough to move around, even adapting the toilets with stretchers’.
