Bilbao Exhibition Centre is strengthening its positioning within the medical and scientific congress segment through a calendar that confirms its capacity to host highly specialised events of considerable organisational scale and international reach.

This June, from the 4th to the 6th, BEC’s Convention Centre hosted the 33rd Ultrasound Congress of the Spanish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (SEGO). The event brought together professionals from the gynaecological and obstetric fields to address the latest advances in fetal medicine, prenatal diagnosis, fertility, gynaecological oncology, endometriosis and new applications of artificial intelligence in ultrasound imaging. The programme, which combined scientific sessions, specialised workshops and professional networking opportunities, reflected the venue’s readiness to meet the technical demands of this type of event.

Activity will continue in October with the 68th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Haematology and Haemotherapy (SEHH) and the 42nd National Congress of the Spanish Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (SETH), taking place from 22 to 24 October. One of the country’s leading medical-scientific events, the congress will bring together leading specialists to discuss advances in clinical haematology, innovative therapies, biomedical research and personalised medicine.

November will bring another major event with the 43rd National Congress of Hospital Engineering, organised by the Spanish Association of Hospital Engineering, from 4 to 6 November. The congress will take place at Euskalduna Conference Centre, while BEC will host its official gala dinner, welcoming close to 2,000 professionals linked to healthcare technology, hospital infrastructure and health innovation.

BEC’s specialisation in this field will continue to grow through new flagship events, including the congress of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), focused on oncology research, translational medicine and biomedical innovation, which will take place from 14 to 17 June 2027.

This calendar further strengthens BEC’s role as a venue fully equipped for medical and scientific congresses requiring versatile spaces and a seamless attendee experience. In this regard, the Convention Centre offers a particularly practical layout, facilitating movement between rooms and services without long walking distances — a key aspect for events with multiple sessions and simultaneous activities.
