Windeurope invites its leading exhibitors to get to know Bilbao Exhibition Centre

The Basque centre is to host the Association’s flagship event in 2019.

WindEurope, the European wind energy association, has invited its leading customers, firms and organisations, to visit Bilbao Exhibition Centre this month for the chance to take a first look at the complex that is to host its leading international event in 2019: the WindEurope Conference & Exhibition. Staggered visits to Bilbao have been held during the month for representatives of such leading firms as Siemens Gamesa RE, LM Wind Power, Enercon, Ingeteam, DWEA-Danish Wind Export Association, MHI Vestas, Nordex Acciona and MPI Offshore.

At various meetings, management staff from WindEurope and Bilbao Exhibition Centre itself have provided them with detailed information on the complex and its capacity, including a draft plan of the layout of the event and a full tour of the facilities that are to host the 3-day conference and exhibition from 2 to 4 April 2019. Seeing the venue first-hand is highly important for the personnel in charge of events at the companies taking part, as they will be working on every last detail of the design and construction of their “trade-show architecture” to highlight their brand positions on innovative, creative stands tailored to their locations.

The programme for the trip also included two meetings with staff from Bilbao Convention Bureau, who provided the future participants with first-hand information on the city and the surrounding area, analysing its potential in terms of hotels, restaurants and amenities. The venues available for social events and potential sightseeing trips to round out the stay of the specialists who attend the event were also discussed at the meetings.

WindEurope is set to bring over 400 exhibiting firms from 50 countries and 8,000 trade visitors from all over the world to Bilbao. It is Europe’s most important event in its field, and a flagship event for the Association. In recent years, there has been intense development in wind energy, which has had the highest rate of growth of any energy source. This event is to be staged at a key time for support for innovation, establishing new contacts and learning about trends for the future in a sector that is undergoing strong expansion.
