BEC meetings & events attends the IBTM fair in Barcelona

They will hold meetings with various actors related to incentive trips and presenting the capacity and versatility of the Biscayan team

The main European agencies in the meetings, event organisation and incentive trip industry will gather at IBTM at the Fira de Barcelona from 19 to 21 November. Bilbao Exhibition Centre will be attending with a delegation led by the BEC Meetings & Events Director, Marta Campos.

“We have a fully-booked agenda over the three days at IBTM with first level buyers interested in BEC and the possibilities it offers, not only as a Congress Centre but as a space for product launches, trade shows and automotive events. We will also be attending some of the programmed networking and training activities so that we are up to date with the latest developments in the MICE world”, explained Marta Campos.

BEC Meetings & Events will be located in the Basquetour D10 stand, where it will be sharing a space with other Biscayan agents headed by the Bilbao Convention Bureau. The BEC delegation has scheduled interviews with event organisers, business travel agents, companies and professionals, where the excellence of the Biscayan team can be showcased. Bilbao Exhibition Centre’s cover letter is backed by its experience hosting major events such as Wind Europe, Rail Live, Architect@Work and the 2018 MTV awards show, among others. The aim is to attract new international and national clients who see BEC as an ideal space to launch new products or organise professional events.

“We have a versatile building that has been set-up to house meetings, conventions or different events in any kind of format put forward to us; we have small meeting rooms to large spaces for 2,500 people, an auditorium for 1,300 people in the Conventions Tower, and the Bizkaia Arena for concerts of up to 14,000 people”, stated Marta Campos. The head of BEC Meetings & Events also highlighted the versatility of the exhibition halls, which do not have any columns and can accommodate any type of event. The automotive sector for example has turned to BEC in recent years to present its new models to Europe, such as Skoda in 2017 and Volkswagen this year; these are examples of two meetings that mobilised around 5,000 people each.

The trip to Barcelona is part of the policy to participate in international forums and decision-making areas of the sector. This same commitment led BEC’s CEO, Xabier Basañez, and the Sales and Marketing Manager, Mario Goffard, to the UFI congress that brought together the main leaders in the global trade fair industry at the beginning of the month in Bangkok.
