The 25th anniversary of MTV EMA will be held at the BEC!

David Lynn, President and CEO of Viacom International Media Networks, the parent company of MTV, said “I have been very fortunate to visit Bilbao during the negotiations leading to the agreement to hold next year’s MTV EMAs and I have had the chance to enjoy its vibrant and unique culture. I am positive that Bilbao will be a perfect scenario for the EMAs, as I know that they will offer an unparalleled show for this incredible city”.

This will be the third time that the Awards are celebrated in Spain. This event, which , took place in 2002 in Barcelona, and in 2010 in Madrid, will be held on 4 November at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) Now, thanks to the strength of the avant-garde city, Bilbao will be the host for the awards to the musical hits of the year, while welcoming the performances of the most important international artists.

Raffaele Annecchino, President & Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks for South and Western Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Bilbao is the perfect city for the 2018 event. The spirit, the culture, the food, and the energy of the city, as well as its people, are just the perfect combination to offer and create unique experiences and moments alongside MTV. An event full of stars that will make the MTV EMAs 2018 a completely unforgettable time for our fans”.

According to Manuel Gil, Senior Vice-president & General Manager of Viacom International Media Networks Spain, “The celebration of the MTV EMAs 2018 in Bilbao is great news for MTV, for the city, and, of course, for all of Spain. We have the opportunity of hosting an event of this size in Spain again, in a very special year for these awards, since we are celebrating their 25th anniversary. Also,” he continued, “the EMAs are a worldwide platform for our local artists, since the nominees for each edition are voted by thousands of MTV fans to become the ‘Spanish Artist of the Year’”.

The Mayor of Bilbao, Juan María Aburto, believes this is a very special event, since “Bilbao is a city with strong personality, at the international forefront, being the spearhead of a very complete, creative, innovative and competitive metropolitan reality. Events such as the MTV EMAs help Bilbao maintain this status, while promoting employment and economic activity, and collaborating in the well-being and the quality of life of the citizens of Bilbao”.

London was the city chosen for the 24th MTV EMAs. Next year we will make a tremendous effort to organise an INCREDIBLE event such as the one we’ve enjoyed in London, with the amazing performances of international artists!
