The Architecture and Construction in Wood Forum remains committed to the sector and its international relevance is growing

Preparations for the 9th Egurtek, an unmissable event for architects and other wood construction professionals, are already under way at Bilbao Exhibition Centre. This biennial event will gather architecture, engineering and construction professionals on 19 and 20 October next year to showcase the most important international timber projects.

Over the past eight years, Egurtek has managed to remain committed to the sector and promote such an important natural resource, serving as a host for the architecture and construction in wood sector year after year. The dynamism of this area, which is very well positioned in the field of sustainable construction with increasing economic clout, will be reflected in all the activities that make up the event: Congress and Technical Conferences, Exhibition Area and Awards. Next year the congress will explore the area of forests and its auxiliary industry. The event enables professionals to interact directly with the visiting architects and to engage in discussions about the details of their projects.

Thanks to the success of past editions, Egurtek is becoming more and more important and internationally relevant. Prestigious architects have attended the event, such as Shigeru Ban, Michael Green, Sou Fujimoto, Alex de Rijke, Álvaro Siza, Cazu Zegers, Marcel Baumgartner, Alpo Ranta Maunus, Georg Wolfgang Reinberg, and many others.

The last edition conquered all frontiers in its once-in-a-lifetime online format, when over 600 domestic and foreign professionals from France, Argentina, United States, Switzerland and Finland, followed the live stream featuring a significant number of widely-renowned architects, who shared their particular views on timber construction.

Egurtek is organised by Bilbao Exhibition Centre, with the collaboration of Baskegur – the Basque Timber Association, the Official Basque-Navarrese Architects Association, and sponsored by the Basque Department for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment.
