Steel Tech, a gathering at the highest level for the steel sector

The event will hold its second edition from 25 to 27 October 2023 at BEC

With more than six months to go, Steel Tech, Congress & Expo already has a good part of its conference content outlined. The event will be held at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre from 25 to 27 October and will focus on innovation and technology in the steel sector. The vision of user companies, case studies and new solutions provided by companies will be the protagonists of the programme.

The conference will open with a plenary session on Industry 5.0. After this, and under the title “Sustainability”, the first day’s conference panel will address the major challenges and trends in the steel industry. It will address topics such as green steel; decarbonisation (CO2 capture technologies, transport, storage and use of H2 and other alternatives); the circular economy – smart waste management; and new energy sources.

The second day’s conference programme will be divided into two sessions: the first will focus on “Collaborative Platforms – Case Studies “, with presentations on logistics solutions, dependency and collaboration with other sectors, collaborative services, teams and smart project management. “Resilience” will be the theme of the conference’s second panel session. Hyper-automation – cost savings – (combination of automation, machine learning and AI); multi-cloud environments; and monolith disruption (predictive analytics, energy management – microservices architecture) will be among the topics discussed.

At the end of each conference block, a round table discussion will be held on “The human focus”, adapting this highly relevant topic to each of the sessions.

In the STEEL TECH exhibition area, suppliers from the various levels of the steel sector value chain will be represented and will have a quality space in which to showcase their products and services. Among the exhibitors confirmed to date are Sarralle, Sorsa, Lechler, Kalfrisa, Jaso Industrial Cranes, GH Cranes & Components, Deguisa and Ceit BRTA.

STEEL TECH will combine in the same space its conference area with the exhibition area and the networking area. The latter includes B2B meetings, with arranged meetings between exhibitors, sponsors and international VIP guests. As part of the steel sector plan: products, machinery and engineering developed through an agreement with ICEX España Exportaciones e Inversiones, STEEL TECH is organising a reverse mission of high-level buyers from around 25 countries. This mission is carried out in collaboration with the Spanish Economic and Commercial Offices in each of these countries.

The invitee companies are among the main domestic and international steel producers and processors, and the attendees are staff with decision-making capacity within the company.

STEEL TECH will also have a Technical Poster Area and Innovation Workshops, and will offer other activities including technical visits to plants, an afterwork event and a gala dinner, where the Steel Tech Awards will be presented.

The event is organised by the Bilbao Exhibition Centre and Siderex, in collaboration with UNESID- Unión de Empresas Siderúrgicas-, the SPRI Group and the Basque Government, and it is sponsored by IDOM.
