The versatility of Bilbao Exhibition Centre’s infrastructure and its logistical capacity were once again highlighted during the 33rd edition of BIEMH, the International Machine Tool Biennial, held from March 2 to 6 across the venue’s six pavilions and part of its Convention Centre. The fair featured large-scale industrial installations that required highly complex technical and organizational solutions, characteristic of one of the sector’s leading international events.

The adaptability of BEC’s pavilions and the spaciousness of its areas, combined with dedicated loading and unloading zones, accessibility for heavy vehicles, and ample parking, allowed for the simultaneous execution of complex setups and ensured smooth operations throughout all phases of BIEMH 2026.

The magnitude and international scope of the event were also reflected in the numbers. BIEMH 2026 brought together 1,543 exhibiting companies from 34 countries and attracted 39,063 professional visitors from nearly 65 countries. During the 31 days the venue was in use, including setup, event days, and dismantling, the event mobilized over 10,300 professionals dedicated to constructing and preparing the exhibition stands.

The significant attendance of professionals from other regions—accounting for 50% of the total—positioned the event as one of the main drivers of business tourism in the Basque Country. Economically, the fair generated an impact of €74.55 million on GDP, with tax revenues exceeding €14.4 million and the creation of 1,507 jobs. The hospitality sector concentrated 63% of the economic impact, followed by trade fair activities (18%) and transportation (9%), demonstrating the capacity of events like this to stimulate multiple areas of the economy.

Beyond its economic and logistical impact, BIEMH 2026 has established itself as the first major international showcase of the year for advanced manufacturing, previewing the trends that will shape industrial innovation in the coming months. The next edition of BIEMH will take place from March 6 to 10, 2028, at Bilbao Exhibition Centre.
