BEC participates in the GDS Forum – Global Destination Sustainability Movement

Leticia Stanculescu, Sales Manager of BEC Meetings and Events, participated in the GDS Forum -Global Destination Sustainability Movement on October 2. This event brought together leaders from the tourism sector, social enterprises and startups in Valencia, and served as a meeting point for professional experts in tourism sustainability to discuss different strategies and sustainable practices, footprint reduction and also on the legacy generated by events and tourism activity in cities.

In the section “Building bridges for impact”, BEC presented the success story of the donation of surplus food during the World Bank’s “Innovate4Climate” event last May. Thanks to the strategic collaboration between Grupo Iruña and Bilbao Exhibition Centre, the international conference became a pioneer event by donating its food surplus through the Oreka Circular Economy platform.

Sustainability is a concept that is part of BEC’s commitment to the environment due to its role as a dynamizing entity and that currently constitutes one of the axes of the Strategic Plan for the next 4 years: to reinforce its contribution to the sustainability of the local and global environment.
